Ruben Gamez is the founder of SignWell, an easy-to-use electronic signature platform that helps over 65,000 businesses get documents signed legally and securely. Under his leadership, SignWell has grown to several million in ARR, processed over ten million signed documents, and become a trusted eSignature solution for both small teams and enterprise customers.
Ruben came to technology later than most founders. He did not own a computer until his 20s and learned to program by studying a C++ book and writing code by hand. His curiosity eventually led him to web development, where he taught himself design, development, and animation through online tutorials. His first tech role was in technical support at Compaq, followed by his first development job at a large payroll company, where he gained experience across web technologies, UX, SEO, and product development.
Before SignWell, Ruben founded and bootstrapped Bidsketch, a proposal software company. The idea for SignWell emerged directly from Bidsketch customers who were frustrated with expensive, difficult-to-use eSignature tools. Seeing an opportunity to build a more intuitive, affordable, and secure alternative, Ruben launched SignWell, focusing on strong UX, developer-friendly APIs, and enterprise-grade compliance.
Today, SignWell runs on a modern stack including React, Rails, and AWS, and maintains high standards for security and compliance, including SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA. Ruben is known for taking a long-term approach to product development, distribution, and brand building, particularly in crowded markets.
Outside of work, Ruben is focused on his family and raising his two children. He shares insights on SaaS, bootstrapping, and growth on X at @earthlingworks.
